Obra Gráfica para Teatro, de Gonzalo Martínez

Play Information

Original Title Obra Gráfica para Teatro, de Gonzalo Martínez
English Title Graphic Exhibition for Theater Shows, by Gonzalo Martínez

Description

Conference room number six of the Centro Cultural Recoleta (Recoleta Cultural Center) includes the graphic work of the designer Gonzalo Martínez, an outstanding production made of programs, posters and a whole graphic system related to the independent theater shows from 1994 until now. Martínez is also a prolific actor, and from his perspective, the graphic work is not an element detached from the theatrical fact, on the contrary, it accompanies and integrates it. It is for this reason that he performs with each cast with whom he‘s working in a research process in order to achieve the final result, that is reflected in different pieces, establishing dialogues with the artists and with the theatrical work. In this context, he generated a range of works that implies in each case a different contact between the graphic piece and the spectator: a diversity of materials, sizes and textures which assume an own relationship between the public and the graphic piece.

As well as the independent theater, Martínez’s work was distinguished by a low cost of production and a profound investigation about the form or shape. In this exhibition you will be able to see several graphic pieces, original ones and texts from Alejandro Tantanian and Ariel Farace, directors with whom he worked. Several pieces specially created for Apócrifo 1. El suicidio, from El Periférico de Objetos; El matadero, from Emilio García Wehbi; Los mansos, from Alejandro Tantanian; Espía a una mujer que se mata, Mujeres soñaron caballos and Open House, all of them from Daniel Veronese; Luisa se estrella contra su casa, from Ariel Farace, and Cómo estar juntos, from Diego Manso; among many others will be exhibited. An endless collection including programs, sheets, printed texts and photographic records that is a witness of the graphic richness concoted by the designer.

Within the framework of FIBA, the exhibition’s opening event will be held on September 24 at 5.30 p.m. Admission is free, and regular visiting hours will be Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. / Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
