Born on 3 June 1931, Walter Malosetti boasts a plentiful career as a teacher, professional musician, composer and interpreter. He graduated as a guitar teacher in 1958 as a disciple of Irma Constanzo and has since then devoted a great part of his life to teaching alongside many artists, personalities like Oscar Alemán, Hernán Oliva, Roberto “Fats” Fernández or Héctor “Baby” López Fürst.
In 1961 he founded his school for guitar and jazz (Escuela Superior de Guitarra y Jazz). He recorded the album The Georgians Jazz Band in 1971 and a year later set up the band Swing 39. In 1984 he gave a course at the first seminar of Introduction to Jazz, a season organised by the Argentinian Jazz Club. Together with the Swing 39 and the Mayo Foundation’s Chamber Orchestra he appeared at the Colon Theatre and toured the main European jazz clubs, schools and conservatories.
Malosetti shared numerous jam sessions, clinics and shows with big names such as Jim Hall and Joe Pass. As a soloist he recorded six albums: Todo de Mí (1992), Tributo a Django Reinhardt (1993/4), Stringtime in Buenos Aires (1997), Grama (1999), Relax (2004) and Palm (2006). The Buenos Aires City Council granted him an award in recognition of his contribution to the country’s culture.
