Antigua Jazz Band

Antigua Jazz Band is an orchestra devoted to performing and spreading the traditional black jazz with over 40 years of brilliant career. Founded in 1968 by eight members of the legendary Guardia Vieja Jazz Band, they debuted that same year in the Cine Arte of Buenos Aires, and immediately afterwards became part of the cast of the city’s club La Botica del Ángel. Their formation is arranged in such a way that it can be divided into soloists, duos, trios, small groups or the orchestra itself. They cover almost all types of traditional black jazz and, to meet the requirements of each piece, they add extra instruments, namely the blue blowing, the kazzo, the washboard and the banjo. They skilfully interweave musical sketches with an account that introduces the audience to the Afro-American music.
