D'3 - Pardo - Posé - Roper's biography

The D’3 trio, led by Jorge Pardo, one of the quintessential figures of Spanish jazz, is, most probably, one of the leading exponents of the fusion between jazz and flamenco. Born in 1995, the band has released three albums and one DVD and toured the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
Since his beginnings in the professional world, Jorge Pardo, an outstanding saxophonist and flutist, has performed alongside giants such as Tete Montoliu, Slide Hampton, Pedro Iturralde and Lou Bennet, among many others. But it wasn’t until he met Paco de Lucía and joined his band that his name became well-known, after going with the great flamenco guitarist on tours around Europe, Japan and the Americas, thus sharing the stage with the greatest jazzmen in the world. In 1990 he and Carles Benavent were invited to appear on a TV show alongside Alex Acuña, Don Alias and Gil Goldstein; that show would mark the beginning of a massive tour around the United States.
In 1992 he performed at the Town Hall in New York. In 1998 he appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival together with Brazilian artists Nana Caymmi and Wagner Tiso. His association with Paco de Lucía was as important as that with Chick Corea for the project Touchstone, which gave birth to two albums. Jorge Pardo has recorded myriad albums with several instrument line-ups.
A native of Malaga, Francis Posé is equally competent with the electric bass and the double bass. He has toured and recorded with greats such as Chano Domínguez, Pedro Iturralde, Kike Perdomo, Perico Sambeat, Joaquín Chacón, David Schnitter, Sean Leavitt, Bob Sands and Javier Ruibal, among many others. He was the director of the first school of jazz and modern music ever founded in Malaga, and is currently an outstanding teacher.
José Vazquez “Roper” is a graduate of the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. Since mid-1980s he has toured Europe extensively alongside countless Spanish and American artists, including Pedro Iturralde, Dave Thomas Magic Music, Pedro Ojesto Trío, OCQ, Miguel Ángel Chastang, José Luis Gutiérrez and Perico Sambeat. He received numerous awards, among which stand out that of the Annual. Jazz Exhibition of the Madrid Town Hall on two occasions and the Second Prize at the Getxo Festival along with Pedro Ojesto Trío.
