 Phil Maturano 's biography

The drummer Phil was born in a musician family. He studied with Roy McCurdy with whom he learnt jazz language. He is the forerunner of new methodologies for the practice of percussion. His books, Working the Inner Clock and Latin Soloing for the Drumset, have been edited by Hal Leonard and they have been well received by different musical schools. Nowadays, Phil lives in New York and he accompanies groups with Afro-Cuban roots as well as R&B, rock and punk bands. Besides being part of different big bands, he has participated in projects related with world music.
