 Barry Altschul 's biography

The drummer Barry Altschul was born in 1943 in New York. He became famous as a member of the Paul Bley Trio. In 1969 he played and recorded with the Chick Corea Trio, and then in the formation of Circle, along with Chick Corea, Dave Holland and Anthony Braxton. He was part of Braxton’s quartet and Sam Rivers’ trio. His first album as a leader -You can’t name your own tune- got the highest mark by DownBeat. He has played with Muhal Richard Abrams, Lee Konitz, Ruswell Rudd and Mark Helias, among many others.
