Ernesto Jodos Doble Trío

Biography

Pianist Ernesto Jodos was born in Buenos Aires in 1973. After studying at Berklee, Boston, he returned to the country and was part of the most thriving movement in the history of local jazz. He has played and recorded with outstanding musicians from Europe and America. He has served as a piano accompanist for many artists on their tours, such as Barry Altschul, Chris Cheek, John Hebert, Horacio Fumero, Billy Harper and Ingrid Jensen. He has been awarded Best New Jazz Artist (Clarín, 2002), Best Jazz Artist (Clarín, 2004) and Jazz Soloist of the Decade (Konex). He has also received the Gardel Award for Best Jazz Album of the Year (in 2008 and 2009). In his music, improvisation plays a vital role, but his style is also influenced by academic tradition. He created and coordinates the jazz degree program at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory. A pesar del Diablo marked the beginning of his recording career. He has over 40 recordings under his belt, 11 as a leader or co-leader. At this edition of the Buenos Aires Jazz, he will perform Fragmentos del mundo (Blue Art), recorded in a double trio format, accompanied by Jerónimo Carmona and Mauricio Dawid (double basses), Sergio Verdinelli and Luciano Ruggieri (drums). The group doubles the strength of the classic trio: two double basses and two set of drums for the soloist to dive into the rippling waters of polyrhythm and counterpoint, with the possibility of leading the song to unexpected shores.
