Armando Alonso

Guitarist Armando Alonso was born in Buenos Aires in 1958. He studied guitar with Walter Malosetti and harmony with Manolo Juárez. He played in the Santa María Jazz Band and performed with prominent local figures. Between 1985 and 1992, he played with European musicians in various groups led by bandoneon player Dino Saluzzi; also with Thomas Fichter (double bass) and Tillman Gluenter (piano). He wrote the score for the film Vacarezza. He currently plays with Rodrigo Cagnone (bass) and Agustín Barbieri (drums). Armando Alonso Trío (Melopea); Mojotoro, with Dino Saluzzi (ECM); and Sin fin (S’Jazz) are some of the albums he recorded.
