Biography
Bassist Masa Kamaguchi was born in Japan in 1966 and moved to Boston to study in Berklee during 1990. Joe Hunt was his teacher. He performed with George Garzone, Bert Sieger, Hal Crook, Herb Pomeroy and Frank Carberg. In 1994, he moved to New York and played in a number of groups, alongside Frank Kimbrough, Sonny Simmons, Ben Monder, David Murray, Toots Thielemans, Tony Malaby and Charles Gayle. In 2006, he settled in Barcelona, where he played with Albert Bover, Perico Sambeat and Lluis Vidal. He has recorded with Kimbrough, Ron Horton, Dave Douglas, Sonny Simmons, Tony Malaby, John O’Allager, Chris Cheek, Billy Mintz and Tony Moreno.
