Biography

The Caoba Jazz Band was created in Buenos Aires in 1981. They play a repertoire of African-American music of the 1920s and ‘30s. They gave their first performances at Radio El Mundo and at the local Hot Club. Ten years later, they went on the first of three tours, visiting cities in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Luxemburg. Etiqueta Negra is the latest of the group’s seven albums. The band is made up of Daniel Menéndez (cornet), Oscar Caro (clarinet, sax and scat vocals), José Luis Borgese (trombone), Fernando Delorenzini (piano), Julio Benito (bass and guitar) Felipe Puzzo (drums and washboard) and Hugo Domínguez (tuba and bass).
