Biography

Violinist and composer Sophie Lüssi was born in Zurich, Switzerland. She studied jazz violin with Daniel Schenker and Pierre Blanchard at the Zurich University of the Arts. She also studied with Didier Lockwood and Paolo Fresu. Now based in Buenos Aires, she is studying composition with Daniel Montes. She was a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Honduras from 1994 to ’99. She presently plays with various tango and jazz bands, and conducts jazz and improvisation workshops. She leads a trio, a quartet and Swing de Paris. Her albums are Bird Migration, To the Left and Right of the Ocean, KLUL, Valse pour Ornette and Douce Ambiance.
