Synopsis

The Germán Rozenmacher Award was created in 1999 by the Centro Cultural Rector Ricardo Rojas, which is under the authority of the University of Buenos Aires, and the Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires (FIBA), organized by the Buenos Aires City’s Ministry of Culture. It has been given every two years since then, on each new edition of FIBA, to stimulate the production of Argentine authors under 35 or foreigners with a minimum residence of five years in the country, and to pay homage to the memory of the great playwright and writer, author of Requiem for a Friday Night and “Little Black Head”. The jury for the eighth edition of the Award was composed of Andrea Garrote, Jorge Dubatti and Mariano Saba, who selected the following winner:

First Award: Un día es un montón de cosas, by Jimena Aguilar.

These works are translated into English, French and Portuguese by Laura Guidi, Françoise Thanas and Sandra Andreoli, respectively, and published by Los Libros del Rojas in a quadrilingual edition with a print run of 1000 copies,

The jury also decided to grant mentions, in no order of merit, to Monstruo, una fábula política, by Juan Ignacio Fernández; Dirección General, by Marcos Perearnau; and La piel del poema, by Ignacio Bartolone.

Authorities: UBA Rector: Dr. Rubén Hallú / UBA Secretary of University Extension and Students Welfare: Oscar García / UBA General Coordinator of Culture: Cecilia Vázquez.
