DESPEDIMOS A PATRICE CHÉREAU

En medio de la euforia del Festival, una noticia trajo un manto de tristeza: murió el maestro Patrice Chéreau. Para los que amamos esta actividad, se fue un hombre imprescindible. Revolucionó la opera con su osada lectura de Wagner, fue un notable director de cine, un impresionante director teatral y un gran actor. Lo habíamos programado en el FIBA pasado y debió cancelar porque se le había desatado la enfermedad.

Recuerdo con cariño su entusiasmo cuando al restablecerse me pidió, con un entusiasmo adolescente, poder presentarse en Buenos Aires. Patrice estaba muy ligado a nuestra Ciudad. Vino de vacaciones y compartimos una bellísima cena y planeamos cómo hacerlo. Quería recuperar lo que la enfermedad le había impedido. Al tiempo, lo conseguimos con el apoyo del servicio cultural francés, el Cultural San Martin y el Ministerio de Cultura porteño y se presentó haciendo una brillante lectura de una parte de "Los hermanos Karamazov" de Dostoievski que emocionó al público.

Me quedo con su alegría en la cena posterior a la función donde disfrutó de haber podido, al fin, presentarse frente al público porteño. Algo que deseaba con toda su fuerza. Qué bueno que pudo hacerlo y qué bueno que pudimos verlo. Deja una obra enorme en libros, películas, óperas y obras de teatros (afortunadamente muchas filmadas).

Un innovador y artista único. Y una bella persona.

Films, one of the Festival’s most prominent sections, comes to an end. The book release and award ceremony for the Germán Rozenmacher Award will be held today at 3 PM at the auditorium Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo of the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas (Corrientes 2038).
