Peter von Bagh is not only an eminent film historian and director, but since 1986 he has also been the director of the Midnight Sun Film Festival, located in Sodankylä, a small town in Finland, close to the polar circle. Compiled from hours of archive material featuring long interviews with the countless and famous visiting filmmakers, the Sodankylä series is nothing but a filmic ode, a moving tribute to the endless power of cinema.
