News | THE GIRL FROM THE ZOO
Lana is a girl abandoned at the early age of 3, who finds herself at home and in her natural habitat at a zoo, where she can give free reign to her love for animals. Suddenly, the appearance of a curious character will give the story a turn: a strange cowboy-looking magician will captivate Lana to the point of making her abandon the zoo and follow him as a companion in his acts. This is the story told by the ever-surprising Indonesian filmmaker Edwin in his film Postcards from the Zoo (“Kebung Binatang,” in its original language), featured in the BAFICI program within the ever-riveting Panorama section.
This Indonesian-Hong Kong-Chinese-German co-production will be screened on Monday 16 and Thursday 19. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Festival’s ticket outlets and also through this website. Seeing the kind of cinema brought forward by Edwin (2009 FIPRESCI winner at the prestigious Rotterdam Film Festival with his notable debut film, Blind Pig Who Wants to Fly) is a whole experience in itself, which BAFICI invites you to discover in the 2012 edition.
