 DE ESO NO SE HABLA

Based on a short story by writer Laura Santullo, who apart from being the scriptwriter is the director’s wife, the film depicts the relationship between María and her father, Agustín. The word "Alzheimer" is never mentioned, but Agustín, with gray hair and a stoop already, easily forgets about everyday life events and keeps memories of his childhood and youth. He lives with María, a separated mother of three and textile factory worker. Desperate about being unable to find a care center for her father, one afternoon María takes him to the park and leaves him seating on a bench. This is the central plot line of La demora, a film by Uruguayan director Rodrigo Plá, made with French and Mexican funding (Plá lived many years in Mexico).

This year, La demora received the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and the German newspaper Tagesspiegel Reader’s Award, two independent film awards presented hours before the Berlinale Award Ceremony. This not-to-be-missed film’s last screening is on Wednesday 18. Tickets can be purchased on-site at the Festival’s ticket outlets and also on this website.
