Terms and Conditions

The Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas, belonging to the Secretaría de Extensión Universitaria of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), and the Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires through the General Management of Festivals and Central Events of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City Buenos Aires, announce the Call for Entries for the VI GERMÁN ROZENMACHER AWARD FOR NEW THEATRE WRITING.

  1. The Competition is open to any playwright born in Argentina or having lived in Argentina for a minimum of five years, under the age of 36 before the closing date of the competition.
  2. Choice of subject is free, and the length must exceed the 20 (twenty) pages, double spaced with letter size 12 and sheet size A4.
  3. Works must be written in Spanish and must not have been published, premiered or awarded in previous contests.
  4. Works must be submitted in triplicate, spiral-bound or inside a folder, up to 7 March 2009 from 12pm to 7pm at the offices of the festival, located in Av. Roque Sáenz Peña 832, 6th floor.
  5. Master copies must be signed with a pseudonym and submitted alongside a sealed envelope, duly identified with the pseudonym and the title of the play, containing the playwright’s personal details: full name, ID number, date of birth, postal address, telephone number and e-mail address
  6. The jury will be integrated by Griselda Gambaro, Mauricio Kartun and Luis Cano, who reserve the right not to select a winner if entries are not of the requisite standard.
  7. The Jury must reach a decision by 30 April 2009. There is no right of appeal against the Jury’s ruling.
  8. The FIRST PRIZE consists of $6,000,00 (six thousand Argentine pesos) and the SECOND PRIZE consists of $4,000,00 (four thousand Argentine pesos).
  9. First and second prizes will be translated into English, Portuguese and French and the organisers reserve the right to appoint the translators. The plays will be published in a single edition in all four languages with a print run of 1,000 (one thousand) copies. Each winning playwright will receive 50 (fifty) copies of the book as a full payment of royalties.
  10. Any issue not addressed by these Terms and Conditions will be solved by the Jury. Failure to comply with any of these Terms and Conditions may result in disqualification of the work. Entry to the contest amounts to acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

The Instituto Nacional del Teatro (INT) (National Theatre Institute) and the Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires (FIBA) through the Office of Festivals and Central Events of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires announce the Call for Entries for the NATIONAL CONTEST OF THEATRE ESSAYS “ALFREDO DE LA GUARDIA” to the residents of Argentine provinces and of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The Competition is open to any person born in Argentina or having resided in Argentina for a minimum of five years.
  2. Participants can only submit one essay. Essays can be authored by more than one person.
  3. Essays must be submitted in triplicate, bound or spiral-bound, the length must range between 100 (one hundred) and 150 (one hundred and fifty) pages, printed on one side of A4 size sheets, in Times New Roman font size 12, double spaced. The first page should include the name of the essay and the chosen pseudonym.
  4. Materials must be submitted together with a sealed envelope duly identified with the title of the essay, the chosen pseudonym and the Region where the author comes from. The envelope must contain, constituting a signed sworn statement: full truthful personal details of the author or authors, address and a brief CV, a proof of registration of the essay with the National Register of Intellectual Property, and a letter stating that the author or authors are not submitting any other essay to this Contest under another pseudonym.
  5. Participants are responsible for the truthfulness of their personal details as well as the authorship of the essay submitted. In the event of any objection or dispute on the subject, the Instituto Nacional del Teatro (INT) and the Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires (FIBA) through the Office of Festivals and Central Events of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires will accept no legal responsibility, being the sole responsibility of each participant to confront them.
  6. Call for Entries opens on 1 November and closes irrevocably on 30 March 2009. Results will be made known during May 2009.
  7. Material may be submitted in person at the respective Provincial Offices or at the INT Head Office (check addresses on HYPERLINK "http://www.inteatro.gov.ar" www.inteatro.gov.ar), or otherwise sent by mail, in an envelope reading: "Instituto Nacional del Teatro, Av. Santa Fe 1243, 10er piso, (CP 1059), Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, CONCURSO NACIONAL DE ENSAYOS TEATRALES "ALFREDO DE LA GUARDIA", en el marco del VII Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires 2009 (F.I.B.A.)".
  8. The INT cannot accept any responsibility in case of loss of submitted essays.
  9. Works will be accepted within the stipulated period, the date on postmark being considered valid, even if the material is actually received after the closing date.
  10. The Jury will be integrated by Horacio Banega, Moira Soto and Jorge Ricci.
  11. A total of three (3) texts will be selected, in accordance with their artistic quality.
  12. The INT will grant:
  13. 1st Prize: SIX THOUSAND ARGENTINE PESOS ($ 6,000.-)
  14. 2nd Prize: FOUR THOUSAND AND FIVE HUNDRED ARGENTINE PESOS ($ 4,500.-)
  15. 3rd Prize: THREE THOUSAND ARGENTINE PESOS ($ 3,000.-)
  16. The INT will carry out the edition and publication of the three (3) selected essays, through its publishing office INTeatro, with a print run of 3,000 copies.
  17. There is no right of appeal against the Jury’s decision, and the Jury reserves the right not to select a winner. Any issue not addressed by these Terms and Conditions will be solved by the parties involved.
  18. Authors who have a work relationship with the bodies involved in the Contest or who have been disqualified by the INT are not eligible to enter the Contest.
  19. Essays shall not be returned.
