Bob Blumenthal

One of the most prestigious jazz critics in the world, he was contributing editor of The Boston Phoenix between 1969 and 1989, and contributor of the renowned The Boston Globe from 1990 to 2002. He has also contributed to The Atlantic Monthly, Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, Down Beat and JazzTimes and Jazziz.

In 2002, he was appointed creative consultant for Marsalis Music, the record label founded by Branford Marsalis. Blumenthal has written hundreds of liner notes, including the whole reissue series of Blue Note, and was awarded two Grammys for his notes in John Coltrane’s and Miles Davis’s collections.
