Sergio A. Pujol

A historian and music critic, Sergio Pujol was born in 1959. He is a researcher for Conicet (The National Scientific and Technical Research Council) and a senior lecturer at the National University of La Plata, and was a guest professor at American universities of Princeton, Iowa, Grinnell, Vanderbilt and Birmingham.

Pujol has published several books on the history of popular music, among which are Jazz al Sur, Discépolo, una Biografía Argentina, La Década Rebelde, Rock y Dictadura, and the recent En Nombre del Folclore. Biografía de Atahualpa Yupanqui. A correspondent in Buenos Aires for Spanish magazine Cuadernos de Jazz, he has been hosting for 29 years now Influencias, a programme on Radio Universidad devoted to jazz and related styles.

In 2007 he was honoured with the Konex Diploma for his work within the music press.
