Eduardo Casalla

One of the most important drummers in the Buenos Aires jazz scene, Eduardo Casalla has appeared with Enrique Villegas, Lalo Schifrin, brothers Barbieri, brothers López Ruiz, Bebe Eguía and many more. Casalla was a member of Lalo Schifrin’s quintet and big band in 1958, before the latter moved to the United States. He joined the Swing Timers in 1959 and Jorge Navarro’s trio in 1962.

He also took part in Rodolfo Alchourron’s band and the legendary Enrique Villegas’s trio, with which recorded four albums –the last one together with Paul Goncalves and Willie Cook, members of Duke Ellington’s band). Casella also joined the groups led by Francisco Rivero, Ángel Sucheras and Roberto “Fats” Fernández, with whom recorded, in 1996, his album Tangos y Standards. In 1998 Lalo Schifrin invited him to participate as a soloist, alongside the General Pueyrredón Symphonic Orchestra, in his show Un Concierto de Película, presented in Mar del Plata and Buenos Aires.
