Synopsis
The title says it all: this work is an imaginative world of insects consisting of its images combined with birds, toads and also snakes. The theme is the eternal cycle of life, birth, sex and death. The structure of the film’s images is constant change. Dragonflies with Birds and Snake is a composition of self-recorded and scientific, founded images. With no text, no sound and combining the images in a collage-like structure (the editing of the film points towards the idea of mosaics and repetitive music), the film examines the mystery grey zone of image and imagination. Powerfully raw, Dragonflies with Birds and Snake, exposes the physical signs of time and vulnerability of film medium itself. Or, as Lehmann likes to explain: “Film has physical effects, and like the skin of humans, it may be violated, one can carve into it and shows the flow of time”. In a shockingly original way, his film is the best proof of that.
