Ernesto Jodos

He was born in Buenos Aires in 1973 and began studying music at age 11. Thanks to a scholarship to study in the United States he got to learn from renowned teachers like Sophia Rossoff, Marc Copland, Ed Bedner and Hal Crook. He has performed with Pepi Taveira, Hernán Merlo, Javier Malosetti, Guillermo Klein & Big Van, Fernando Tarrés Arida Conta Group, Conrad Hwerig, Jeff Hirschfield, Donny McCaslin, Matt Pavolka, Nina y el Lobo, Sergio Verdinelli Trío and other ensembles. Outside the realm of jazz, he shared the studio with Raúl Carnota, Willy González, Pedro Aznar, Mercedes Sosa and Lucho González. He performed with many remarkable international musicians in their visits to the country, including Michael Brecker, Billy Harper, Paquito D’Rivera, Barry Altschul, Ingrid Jensen and Chris Cheek. He is the academic coordinator of the degree in jazz at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Manuel de Falla, head of the Performance Department of the Escuela de Música Contemporánea and conducts courses and seminars throughout Argentina as a member of the staff of the Ministry of Education of the country. He was guest professor at the Manhattan School of Music, the Escuela de Música y Audio Fernando Sor in Bogota, the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota and the Instituto Profesional ProJazz in Santiago, Chile. He has toured the States, Europe and South America. His intense career has earned him wide recognition from the press through numerous awards, including the Konex 2005, the Clarín Award on many occasions and many others. He released various solo albums in different formats; the latest ones are De/generaciones, alongside maestro Gerardo Gandini, and Ernesto Jodos Trío and El jardín seco, both released on Sony Music. The latter two garnered the Gardel award for Best Argentine Jazz Album in 2008 and 2009 respectively. In addition, his duo album alongside guitarist Carlos Casazza, entitled La palabra kilómetros, has just been released.
