Sergio Wagner

Sergio Wagner was born in 1988 in Azul, in the province of Buenos Aires. At age 12 he began studying trumpet in his hometown at the Escuela Popular de Música. He went on to study in the neighbouring city of Olavarría, and later on in Buenos Aires with Fernando Ciancio and Richard Nant. He was a member of the following ensembles: Banda Infanto Juvenil de Azul, Ensamble Azulado, Banda Mayor Municipal de Olavarría, Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Olavarría, Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Mercosur, Proyecto Duke (Jazz Big Band) Estrepitosa Funk and Quatro Quartos. He participated in the plays Porgy and Bess and Arlequín, servidor de dos patrones, at the Teatro San Martín. In 2006, once settled in Buenos Aires, Sergio studied with Enrique Norris and Juan Cruz de Urquiza, and in 2009 got his degree in jazz studies from the Conservatorio Manuel de Falla. At present, he works as a sessionist, teaches private lessons and performs in different ensembles: JazzQuintet, Brote, Valentín Reiners Cuarteto, Hernán Merlo XL Ensamble, Patricio Carpossi Cuarteto, Ricardo Nolé Septeto, 5 Litros, Mariano Otero Orquesta, Alina Gandini & Hotlera and Alan Plachta 7, among others.
