uy Hugo Fattoruso 's biography

Hugo Fattoruso

Popular music from Rio de la Plata cannot be clearly explained without mentioning Hugo Fattoruso. This composer, musical arranger, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist was born in 1943, in Montevideo, he was founder and main composer of two mythical groups: The Shakers, and then- once in the United States- Opa. He recorded and shared the stage with figures such as Eduardo Mateo, Jaime Roos, Rubén Rada, Chico Buarque de Hollanda, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Maria Bethânia, Toninho Horta, João Bosco, Hermeto Pascoal, Mauro Senise, Naná Vasconcelos, Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Hiram Bullock, Don Cherry, Giovanni Hidalgo, Ron Carter, among others.
He toured around Japan, the first tours for two months, first with Fattoruse Trio (along with his brother Osvaldo and his son Francisco) and then in duo with the Japanese percussionist Yahiro Tomohiro, with whom he recorded the album Dos orientales.
Hugo Fattoruso performs in Buenos Aires Jazz to show two of his most original facets of his production: the solo piano reflected in his album Ciencia fictiona and his recent project: Rey Tambor group, completed with Diego Paredes in piano drum, Fernando Núñez in small drum and Nicolás Peluffo in ringing drum and Hugo in piano and keyboards for a repertoire of classics of the genre, his own compositions and other songs taken to the candombe rhythm. With Rey Tambor he has released Palo y mano, Emotivo and Puro sentimiento.
