 Mauro Beggio's biography

This 40 years old Italian drummer, graduated from the Dizzy Gillespie School (Italy). At 16, he was already playing with Enrico Rava’s (trumpet player) group through the European festivals circuit.
On the one hand, he has been part of the stable groups of Rava, Pieranunzi, Claudio Fasoli and the Lydian Sound Orchestra; and on the other hand he has been requested as a freelance session musician by artists as renowned as Paul Bley, with whom he recorded the album One year later, Johnny Griffin, Franco Ambrosetti, Kenny Wheleer, Toots Thielemans, Palle Danielson, Chucho Valdés, Toninho Horta, just to name a few.
He is a prominent teacher in several Italian schools and conservatories and, besides an abundant discography as sideman, he has three albums as leader with the trio Gibellini-Tavolazzi-Beggio.
