Biography
Pianist Holman Alvarez was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, in 1981. He received formal instrumental training at the Universidad del Valle. With his first jazz ensemble, 5n46 Trío, he participated at the AJAZZGO festival. In 2007, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Conservatorio Manuel de Falla and the Escuela de Música Contemporánea, in Buenos Aires. Here, he created his own trio with Martín Delassaletta (double bass) and Luciano Ruggieri (drums). He has a duo with Jorge Sepúlveda and has played with Liliana Montes, Antonio Arnedo, Víctor Mendoza, Sherry Williams and the Philarmonic Orchestra of Cali and accompanied saxophonist Ronald Carter.
