Biography

Double bass player Johannes Weidenmueller was born in Heidelberg, Germany. Upon moving to New York, he joined Hank Jones’s trio, the group New World Spirit, Ray Barretto, Carl Allen-Vincent Herring’s quintet, John Abercrombie’s quartet and Joe Lovano’s trio. He has played with Brad Mehldau, George Benson, John Scofield, Dewey Redman, Randy Brecker, Kenny Wheeler, Toots Thielemans, Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Gary Bartz, Jonny Coles, Clifford Jordan, Joe Chambers, the National Orchestra of Spain, Chano Domínguez and Gaurav Madzumdar’s Indian ensemble, among others.
