Biography
Drummer, composer and educator Ari Hoenig was born in Philadelphia, Uniter States, in 1973. Currently, he performs every week with his group Ari Hoenig and Punk Bop at the Smalls Jazz Club of New York and in a trio with Jean-Michel Pilc (piano) and François Moutin (double bass). He has played with Shirley Scott, Gerry Mulligan, Mike Stern, Joshua Redman, Wayne Krantz, Herbie Hancock, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Richard Bona, Dave Liebman, Chris Potter, Toots Thielemans, Dave Holland, Joe Lovano, Pat Metheny, Pat Martino, Ivan Lins and The Jazz Mandolin Project. He has recorded eight albums, including two as a leader, and published music education books.
