International Concerts

The BAJ.11 maintains its commitment to inviting top-notch international artists who have never performed in the City. The concert series opens with notable pianist Kenny Werner, whose style straddles the line between traditional and contemporary jazz. Werner will perform both solo and with his legendary trio. The BAJ will close with a magnificent double-bill featuring two leaders of the European avant-garde: Danish percussionist Marilyn Mazur’s quartet and the Saiyuki project led by French-Vietnamese guitarist Nguyên Lê. We will welcome two acclaimed trumpeters: the legendary Charles Tolliver and Paolo Fresu, a leading name in European avant-garde. Other concerts will feature notable Norwegian double bass player Arild Andersen and two excellent pianists, the Spanish Albert Bover and the French Baptiste Trotignon. As in previous editions, Brazil will be present, on this occasion with mandolin virtuoso Hamilton de Holanda and singer Tatiana Parra, one of Sao Paulo’s new voices.
