Biography

Pianist Oscar Jan Hoogland was born in Amsterdam in 1983. He studied piano at the Utrecht Conservatory and composition at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. He works in the field of both dance and music improvisation. He has written music for dance and theater shows and for numerous ensembles and solo artists. He has performed at Moers, North Sea Jazz and Dublins 12 points festivals. He plays with the EKE trio, The Ambush Party, The Royal Improviser Orchestra, The Phonograph Orchestra, Chris Corstens Kwartet, [dB]danceBand, de Bakfietsband, Voiceover, in a duo with Han Bennink, in addition to leading a trio.
