Biography
Double bass player Juan Manuel Bayón studied in Buenos Aires with Hernán Merlo, Carlos Lastra, Enrique Norris and Pepi Taveira, and in the United States with John Lockwood and Mark Helias. In 2009, he received a scholarship to study with Dave Douglas, Joshua Redman, Tony Malaby, Ben Street, Matt Penman and Clarence Penn. He has shared the stage with Hank Roberts, Paula Shocron, Eleonora Eubel, Eloy Michelini, Carlos Lastra, Ricardo Cavalli, Rodrigo Domínguez, Enrique Norris, among others. He co-leads the electroacoustic collective Elefante. He has just released his first solo album, Trance, presented at the BAJ 2010.
