Biography
Saxophonist Sylvain Del Campo was born in France in 1970. He has played with Nicolas Folmer, Nico Morelli, Eric Le Lann, Giovanni Mirabassi, John Betch, Ludovic De Preissac, Elvita Delgado, Le Paris Jazz Big Band. Since 2008, he has been full professor of Saxophone at the National School of Noisiel. He has performed with his first quartet – Matthieu Jérôme (piano), Alexandre Hiele (double bass), Frédéric Délestré (drums) – at the Maison de Radio France and at several festivals, such as Jazz à Sète, Jazz à Vannes, Avignon Jazz Festival, Jazz en Touraine, Enghien Jazz Festival, Jazz en Nord, Jazz d’Olorons Sainte Marie, Jazz d’Angers, Mulhouse Jazz Festival and Tanger Jazz Festival. In France, he won the National Jazz Competition in Vannes in 2002 and in Sète in 2006. He was also a finalist at two European competitions, Avignon in 2007 and Massimo Urbani (Italy) in 2009. L’Appel Des Sens (Musicast) was his first album recorded with a quartet, released in 2000. After 2002, in a new quartet with Nico Morelli (piano), Mauro Gargano (double bass) Laurent Parenthoën (drums), he released Derrière le soleil (Musicast) in 2003; Eclipsis (Aphrodite Records) in 2006; and Isotrope (Aphrodite Records) in 2011, featuring the same instrumental lineup.
