Biography

Double bass player Juan Manuel Bayón studied in Buenos Aires with Hernán Merlo, Carlos Lastra, Enrique Norris and Pepi Taveira. Then he went to the United States to study with John Lockwood and Mark Helias. In 2009, he was granted a scholarship to study with Dave Douglas, Joshua Redman, Tony Malaby, Ben Street, Matt Penman and Clarence Penn. He has played with Hank Roberts, Paula Shocron, Eleonora Eubel, Eloy Michelini, Carlos Lastra, Ricardo Cavalli, Rodrigo Domínguez and Enrique Norris. He co-leads the electroacoustic collective Elefante and has just released his first solo album, Trance.
