In chronological order, it will screen: “Trimpin: The sound of invention” at 2.30PM in Hoyts 2; “NY Export: Opus Jazz/Work in progress” at 4.30PM in Hoyts 8; “Rocksteady – The Roots of Reggae” at 5.30PM in Cine Teatro 25 de Mayo; “The Agony and the Ecstasy of Phil Spector” (photo) at 8.45PM in Arteplex Caballito 2; ; “Strange powers: Stephin Merrit and the Magnetic Fields” at 9PM in Alianza Francesa; “Do it again” at 10.30PM in Hoyts 9; “We don’t care about music anyway” at 11.45 in Hoyts 1 and “Roskilde” on Sunday 0.30AM in Santa Fe 1.
Talent Campus begins
10 Sat 2010This Saturday, the fifth edition of Talent Campus Buenos Aires begins, with the participation of renowned experts of the film industry of America and Europe, focused on documentary films. 50 young professionals of the cinema in South America — selected among more than 500 applicants— will participate in enriching seminars and workshops. This edition, the amount of applications received exceeded the ones from previous editions. In this context, at 3.30PM in the BAFICI Space, a dialog with the Austrian director Bernhard Sallmann will be carried out (photo). He and his films are the protagonists of the Festival’s section "Retro".
Coproduction meetings
10 Sat 2010This Saturday, in the context of Buenos Aires Lab (BAL), the coproduction meetings between the representatives of the Latin American projects and the potential co producers from the rest of the world will take place. The 17 selected projects participating are: Algo de anarquía (Argentina), Algunos momentos en la vida de Iván (Argentina), Bellas de noche (Mexico), Calle Miseria (Argentina - Bolivia), Corta (Colombia - Argentina), Edén (Brazil), El peletero (Argentina), Entre líneas (Argentina), La mujer de barro (Chile), La Playa (Colombia), La última tierra (Paraguay), Los días (Argentina), NN (Peru), Qatú (Argentina), Solo (Uruguay), Valeu Boi! (Brazil) and Villegas (Argentina).
Free movies under Buenos Aires’ skyline
10 Sat 2010The free series of "outdoors cinema" begins this Saturday at Carlos Gardel St (between Jean Jaures and Anchorena) and also "Baficito" at the San Martin de Tours Sq. (Schiaffino and Posadas), two attractive proposals to see good films with the great scenography that the Buenos Aires urban area offers. A program integrated by a selection of “new Argentine shorts” by young filmmakers will be screened from 3PM at the Carlos Gardel St: the curious "JCVD" focusing on the life and avatars of the action hero Jean-Claude Van Damme and the Uruguayan film "Acne" (picture) by Federico Veiroj. The movie "Igor" by Anthony Leondis will be screened from 7.30PM at the Plaza San Martin de Tours.

09 Fri 2010The section of movies for children suitable for all ages offers, this weekend and the next one, an attractive programming, free and outdoors, in the San Martín de Tours Sq. (Schiaffino y Posadas). This Saturday at 7.30PM, it will be screened "Igor" by Anthony Leondis (photo) and this Sunday, at the same time, we will have the chance to see the short films "A revolta dos mouses" (David Alexander Gen), "O soldadiño de chumbo" (Virginia Curie and Thomas Earl), "Leo" (Fernando Cortizo), "The werepig" (Samuel Orti), "O pintor de ceos" (Jorge Morais).
This Saturday, special screening of “Outdoors cinema”
09 Fri 2010This Saturday at 9PM in Carlos Gardel St. (between Anchorena and Jean Jaures), the movie “The circle" by the Iranian director Jafar Panahi will be screened with free entry. This special screening of "Outdoors cinema" is in solidarity with the unfair situation that this remarkable filmmaker is going through. The movie won a Golden Lion at the Venice Festival in 2000 (photo).
This saturday, the beginning of Outdoor Cinema
08 Thu 2010This year, the first day of the free series “Outdoor Cinema” at the Abasto´s Pasaje Carlos Gardel offers a triple program integrated by a selection of “Argentine short films” by young filmmakers. Among these shorts we can find the curious “JCVD” centered in the life and vicissitudes of the action hero Jean-Claude Van Damme and the Uruguayan movie co-produced by Argentinean, Spanish and Mexican capitals “Acné” (photo) by Federico Veiroj. These films are the beginning of a series that had a great success in the 2008 and 2009 editions and is on the way towards becoming a festival’s classic.
A full day of “Baficito”
08 Thu 2010The section of movies for children suitable for all ages that was very successful during 2009, contributes this year with a rich programming and this Friday, for example, it screens three films of high level: at 3.30PM in Hoyts 11, "Beetie Queen Conquers Tokyo” by Jessica Asian, a curious story on the investigation of an entomologist in eastern land; at 6.15PM in Santa Fe 1, "The stolen airship” by Karel Zeman, prodigy of animation and assembly techniques; and also at 6.15PM, at the Hoyts 10, it will be the turn of the award-winning "The boy who wanted to be a bear" (photo) by the Danish filmmaker Jannik Hastrup.
“Animationbox” begins
08 Thu 2010This Friday starts an attractive activity designed for children between 6 and 10 years old, to be carried out until Sunday the 11th. "Animationbox" is a workshop that stimulates children to direct their own animation films, participating in the creation and build up process. They work with cardboard, paper, scissors and web cameras, to imagine and produce their own creations.
