A PONCHO AGAINST THE COLD

A "Poncho" can be the ideal outfit to fight the cold of the winter of Buenos Aires. However, it is also the name of the group that shall increase the heat at the Terrace of Centro Cultural Recoleta this Saturday at 9PM. This show will be the last one for the day. Javier Zuker –the most renowned Argentine DJ-, Leandro Lopatín –former member of “Turf”-, and Fabián Picciano joined themselves to create the band “Poncho”. They recorded “Ponchototal” with the collaboration of various national and international artists, such as: Luis Alberto Spinetta, Divididos, Shannon Funchess –member of the USA band “!!!”-, the British DJ Justin Robertson, and Banda de Turistas, among others.

CIERRE DEL VIERNES CON EL SARGENTO 05 Sat 2010

This Friday, we had the chance to enjoy for eight hours the different artistic expressions around all the Centro Cultural Recoleta’s comfortable spots. Sergent García (picture) along with Iván Dorroman and Supa Bassie were in charge of the closing, granting us an hour of “salsamuffin”: a mix of rock, reggae, hip-hop and tropical music to dance about. Around 11 PM, the three of them left cheered by an enthusiastic audience. Previously, a great concert given by Los Odio!, warmed up the terrace stage, making a successful debut in our country.

Sergent García make their debut in the country with a “salsamuffin” show at the terrace stage, closing the third day of the Festival. But previously, at the same space, Los Odio! (picture) delivered a Mexican rock class, dressed in red and wide lapel coats.

The show lasted an hour and songs of the first CD, homonym, were introduced. The songs were perfect to mosh to the rhythm. An homage to The Beatles was left for the closing; an interpretation of Paul Mc Cartney’s Helter Skelter.

Many different options can be enjoyed by the increasing number of people strolling along the corridors of Centro Cultural Recoleta. We have avid readers at the Magazine Area; fans of the new rhythms at “Escucha” Space, searching for new captivating bands; photojournalist lovers, enthusiasts with a camera, and general public enjoying the exhibition called “Fotorragia” by Martin Bonetto. We can also mention the sector Poetry and Music, which is full of people enjoying the poetry of Cecilia Eraso, and Carlos Gradín, together with Javi Punga. What about the music? Well. We were able to enjoy the show performed by Panza, a band which joins punk, rock, and the long legs of its beautiful singer Mariana Bianchini, who was wearing a very sexy short dress not suitable for all the audiences.

Satan Dealers (picture) rock the Villa Villa hall, and played their harsh and melodious songs to the audience that filled the room: fans of the band that celebrated every song – specially “Se paraliza en mí”-; some of them were drinking energizing drinks; others dressed with their office clothing. At the end of the show, the diverse audience clapped crazily. After a few minutes, part of the audience run to the Microcine, where the film “Roskilde” was about to be screened. It is a documentary about the history of one of Europe’s most important rock festivals. Roskilde is organized in Denmark, with a lin-up that gathers together some of the most relevant bands in the world - Bob Marley, Lou Reed, The Kinks, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, U2, Nirvana played there, among others-. Year after year is visited by thousands of people from all over the world.

VIERNES 17.15- OTRA TARDE EN EL EMERGENTE 04 Fri 2010

Little by little rooms and halls at Centro Cultural Recoleta are getting crowded. Ciudad Emergente has started a new stage. From 4 PM, at the Microcine, “Oasis: Lord don’t slow me down” is being shown. This movie shows brothers Gallagher’s tour between 2005 and 2006. Meanwhile, at the same time, the Terraza stage is being seized by the rhythms of progressive rock coming from Amel’s instruments. This quartet, formed by Gustavo Spinetta –Luis’ brother, who recorded the drums for the fantastic CD “Artaud”-, Gonzalo Pallas, Pablo Castagneris and Francisco Zunana. They are in charge of opening the first Friday of the month’s music program.

SERGENT GARCIA WILL BE TONIGHT’S SURPRISE CLOSING

SERGENT GARCÍA SERÁ EL CIERRE SORPRESA DE ESTA NOCHE 04 Fri 2010

The performing of Sergent Garcia will be this coming Friday’s last show, at 10PM at the terrace stage. He is Bruno Garcia’s alter ego, a French-Spanish singer that mixes rock, reggae, salsa, cumbia, rap and hip-hop. He named this non-conventional fusion of styles “salsamuffin”. He lives in Latin America a few months a year, which allows him to go deeper in his musical search, adding elements from this continent to his genre, some Caribbean and urban flavor.

POETRY AND MUSIC: LIPS, PUNGAS AND POETS

POESÍA Y MÚSICA: LABIOS, PUNGAS Y POETAS 04 Fri 2010

This Friday, from 6.30 PM the Poetry and Music season is once again on. It links two disciplines which have coexisted since the beginning of time. In the first place, on the poets’ side, Gael Policano Rossi and Marina Gersberg are participating. Last year, both authors published their last books under independent publishers: “Vosiyo” and “Bajar de un hondazo”. Music is performed by Esteban García, member of the refreshing cumbia band Los Labios. Later on, at 8 PM, Javi Punga will play his guita to tinge Cecilia Eraso and Carlos Gradín’s verses, who propose high doses of existentialism.

DJVJ: MUSIC AND IMAGES

DJVJ: IMAGEN Y SONIDO 04 Fri 2010

From this coming Friday, 6.30 PM, a new stage of the VJDJ season will take place, in which music, blared out by a DJ, “tunes in” with the visual stimuli given out by a VJ and vice versa. A peaceful war between record players and hard drives are held at the Patio de la Fuente. On this occasion, and in the first place, DJ Rudy Martínez + VJ Froch DND will be performing. Martínez, from electronic school, is part of Adicta, one of the most remarkable national techno rock bands. Likewise, Froch DND experiences and connects with the sounds in “real time” with the catchy beat. Both born in La Plata, they will be responsible for creating images and music to Friday’s sunset.

INTIMATE ODIOUS GUYS

ENTRAÑABLES ODIOSOS 04 Fri 2010

This Friday at 9PM, Los Odio! will make their debut in Buenos Aires at the Terrace stage. It is a Mexican superband formed by Paco Huidobro (Fobia), Tito Fuentes (Molotov), Quique Rangel (Café Tacuba), Jay de la Cueva (Titán, Moderatto), and Ernesto Domene (La Lupita). They are presenting the record called Los Odio!, which was released in Argentina. The record counts on several hits such as “Súper pompis”, “Nacido para perder” and “Pelos en el mouse”. Also, on their shows, they usually play songs from their own bands, as well as covers from The Beatles and Cheap Trick, among others.
