Film and Jazz Centro Cultural Recoleta / MicrocineThe ex drummer of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, whose album Spectrum influenced an entire generation of musicians, is still touring the world. This documentary follows him around Brazil, where he conducts a clinic with musicians from the favelas (shanty towns), as well as throughout an emotive experiment in Switzerland where music is used as a means of communication with a group of autistic people. At an age when others are retiring, Cobham is still alive and kicking, playing and exploring.

When Adrián Iaies called to invite me to write a tribute to Astor Piazzolla’s work, along with the joy and pride the invitation meant, aroused the inevitable question: is it possible to do anything with Astor’s music that wouldn’t sound unnecessary? His music has the balance and self-sufficiency of any great work.
My first romance with Piazzolla’s music occurred twenty years ago. Ten years later I submerged myself into his music with the self-imposed challenge to emerge on the other side enlightened, without getting lost in his marvelous labyrinth.
Never heard his recordings since. It seems my romance with his music is signed by each decade...
Today I visit Piazzolla’s world again to attempt reinvent myself through his music, surrounded by eight amazing musicians, to tribute him in which I think is the best way to honor a man who believed in doing: by keeping in doing, always pushing forward.
